Cocaine Take OverCocaine is the second most popular illegal substance in the United States and continues to be so, regardless of the severity of harm caused to people. People get carried away by drugs, cocaine ruins them not only mentally but also physically. They let this drug ruin their lives just for temporary pleasure and don't realize how much it can harm them in the long run. Those who realize how much it harms their future still let this illegal substance control their lives. Cocaine is a drug extracted from the leaves of a coca plant and is one of the most widely used and addictive drugs. Pure cocaine grows from the Erythroxylon coca bush which grows mainly in South America, Bolivia and Peru (What is Cocaine?). People all over the world are consuming this illegal substance with the risk to their bodies in mind, and without even caring. This very well known drug does not exist in just one form, but the two most popular would be in the form of hydrochloride salt and free base, and crack. Hydrochloride salt is the powder form of cocaine. It is a white crystalline substance as seen in movies and shows. People can either snort it through their nose or inject it into their veins when it dissolves in water. Street names for this form of cocaine are Blow, Coke, Flake, C and Snow. Freebase cocaine is the type people smoke, it is preferred over salt hydrochloride because it takes effect within 10 seconds. Crack is considered the most powerful and addictive form. The most well-known form of cocaine would be crack. It is transformed from powder into free base. Cocaine cannot be detected in blood or urine until several hours after consumption, meaning that if these substances were tested after those hours, they would appear drug-free. Cocaine is against...... middle of paper...... and anger. Addiction inflicts on its victims and their families every day, millions of people destroying their lives for cocaine only for fleeting pleasure. But most will tell you that until you have experienced it or seen a loved one experience it, there is no way to fully visualize the true effects of cocaine addiction. Cocaine addiction in a person can also have an impact on society. Drugs like cocaine are brain diseases that cause you to act in ways you can't control. Aggressive and irresponsible behavior usually follows cocaine addiction. Coke causes people to make bad choices because the drug controls their brains. They would not be able to control this, which would cause them to have destructive behavior. When a person fails to gain control of their brain, several small things can go wrong. Behavioral changes occur with repeated cocaine use.
