    In the novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon, the author takes us into the world of a 15-year-old boy living with autism . The life of the protagonist, Christopher, is not placid, as it is essential that he makes difficult life decisions that alter his daily life. The story culminates with Christopher residing with his mother, Judy. However, there are many reasons why Judy is not a suitable guardian. Therefore, Christopher should not reside with his mother but rather with his father, Ed. Judy's personality and character traits make her an unstable and unpredictable person who has repeatedly established that she cannot do facing his problems and instead chooses to run away. Although Judy is ill-equipped to care for Christopher, Ed has all the qualities needed in a good guardian, he is responsible and very patient with Christopher. Judy is not a suitable guardian for Christopher since his personality and character traits make him unstable and unpredictable. As Christopher's guardian, however, she has an obligation to care for him; she also has the need to take care of herself. She must first regain control of her own life before taking care of another. Judy is impatient and angry, and takes her anger out on Christopher: "And Mom said, 'Christopher, I'm about to hold out.' But I'm about to lose it, okay? So just give me some-…” (205, Haddon).
