“You don’t need to burn books to stop a culture, you just need to get people to stop reading them” (Bradbury 61). Books must be protected at all costs; they cannot be altered, altered, labeled, stripped or burned. They must be preserved as a whole to protect the moral integrity of the art and the artist. Books are so important to society because they help document the records of individuals and keep their ideas and beliefs alive. Ray Bradbury believes that if literature is destroyed, society will begin to deteriorate with it. Bradbury says it's not the books that are being destroyed, but the freedom of creativity. According to the quote, if the "culture" doesn't read books, it's as bad as if the books were never written. If one day students decided that going to school and getting an education was no longer important, they would not have to physically destroy the school because it has already been figuratively destroyed. This applies to today's life, as more and more people read less and watch TV. It's not the books that are important...
