  • Essay / Freudian theory - 1491

Bianca thought about it, but remained unsure. She determined that she was afraid that she wouldn't be able to get over the hurt, maybe that she wouldn't be able to get over the incident, and maybe that she would never be able to trust again. She said she was deathly afraid of centipedes and that when she encountered one in person, she found herself experiencing high levels of anxiety – sometimes hyperventilating. By analyzing what is being discussed and what she is experiencing, it is determined that Bianca is allowing her identity and unconscious to control her feelings and attitudes. She is unable to let go of a negative experience, so the transfer of something she is afraid of into real life manifests through her dreams and negative feelings towards centipedes. There is an overall developed distress between Bianca's conscious and unconscious minds and she is unable to decipher between Bianca's conscious and unconscious minds.
