Essay / ||The American Revolution is one of the most important wars in modern history. It was a war in which thirteen colonies fought against the powerful British army to become an independent nation. Before the Revolutionary War began, the colonists were unhappy with Britain and its heavy taxes on the colonists and sought to negotiate with Britain to reduce their taxes and give them freedom. However, this quickly turned into a revolutionary war in which the American colonies fought for their independence, while Britain sought to maintain its control over the American colonies. Several years later, the American colonies pushed back the British and formed a new independent nation, the United States of America. During the American Revolution, the British had a large army consisting of land and naval forces, but they were unable to defeat the colonists, whose military forces were considerably smaller than those of the British. American forces, led by General George Washington, were fierce fighters, strong-willed, used brilliant military strategies, and desired independence from Great Britain. Although the American Revolution took place between the American colonies and Britain, Britain was not the only foreign power involved in the American Revolution. The French were an important ally of the American colonies during the Revolutionary War, which saw the American colonists' war against Great Britain as a way to defeat their long-time enemy. Without the superior military tactics of the colonists as well as the alliance between the American colonies and France, the American Revolution may not have been a successful revolution and the American colonies may never have won their independence. middle of paper......the United States of America.
