    Robin (Project Manager) has no experience with state government or the state legal system. Planning and setting clear goals can be difficult because she is unfamiliar with their process. Not knowing the state government will put it at a disadvantage in its ability to meet its information systems upgrade needs. She will not know their daily processes and the roles of individuals within the system. Not knowing the roles of individuals can lead to conflict when trying to work on the project, as she may not know where to turn for input on a decision regarding the system. Leveraging SkillsRobin must leverage the experience of his team members, such as Fred, who has significant experience with state government and is familiar with the corrections process. She also has to work with Donna because she has worked for the state's justice system for 25 years and knows all its ins and outs. This will allow Robin to gain more information about the Department of Corrections process and allow him to properly upgrade the information systems (Pearlson & Saunders, 2013). Fred (the main legal person helping with the project) does not have technology expertise. . This can lead to conflicts between Fred and Robin over the requirements needed for the information systems project. Fred may also have difficulty understanding Robin's technical terminology. Fred's familiarity with corrections may cause him to resist many changes to the current information system. Fred will not be able to help Robin with the specifics of the technology. Fred has never had a woman as a boss and Robin is significantly younger than him.
