    Not everyone will like you, in fact, many will hate you for no reason because they don't know anything about you other than your appearance. This is the case in many stories like Graduation by Maya Angelou, Myth of a Latin Woman by Judith Cofer, and Letter from Birmingham Jail by Martin Luther King Jr. To any reasonable person, these stories would seem very depressing because of how these people are being treated. and most of the time, they receive this treatment because they are too afraid to speak out. Although some people are unfairly treated as inferior, knowing this does not help stop it, only action can eliminate the prejudice and discrimination these people suffer. After the end of the Civil War, one had to endure endless and relentless torture, even during such an innocent and important event as 8th grade graduation. Hearing the principal stand in front of the school and talk about the white people's accomplishments made Maya feel insignificant, even though she didn't have any....
