He made Odysseus' journey very difficult. For example, Poseidon made the sea furious, derailed Odysseus and his crew, and finally struck them with thunder. This ultimately destroys the crew; except for Ulysses who remains stranded until he is found by Calypso (Puchner). The true cause of Poseidon's anger was due to the fact that Odysseus had killed Poseidon's son, Polyphemus, in a horrible way.
