Essay / Simon's Life on the Island - 750
In the novel Lord of the Flies, all the characters have an important role and each individual shows a different impact from others in society. Simon's innocence throughout the novel impacts his behavior and how he treats the little ones with care. He is a flat, static character who takes an active role and is fully supportive in everything he does. Simon does not lose hope of being saved and becomes the light of the island because he does everything he can in every situation. As the characters and plot develop, the boys begin to change as each character loses their innocence because of their freedom. Simon shows more purity and compassion as the boys' problems increase as he tries not to let any of the causes affect him. In Lord of the Flies, Simon represents the goodness of the island by helping the cubs, supporting the boys, and doing everything in his power to make the best of the situation on the island. The lack of civilization and human kindness leads young children to evils and a bad environment that they have never faced. Simon, a "skinny, lively boy (p. 24)" is a member of Jack's choir but soon leaves his tribe and joins Ralph because he is not able to cope with the cruelty of the leaders. While all the other characters fail to live up to their responsibilities and commitments to the island's rules, Simon is the only person devoted to them as things begin to fall apart. He is a character with a respectful and spiritual personality and who has a human kindness towards nature when caring for little ones and older boys. For example, he helps the little ones pick fruit to eat, collects Piggy's glasses when they fly out of his face, gives Piggy his share of meat when he was denied a piece, and gives…. .. middle of paper.... ..the characters lose track of what is right and wrong as they focus on hunting and killing so they can gain total power over the island. In conclusion, Simon's life on the island taught the boys that a human nature is important when trying to deal with others. His personality and relationships with the other characters cause them to be strong for a long time before they start to die and lose their innocence to the entire evil nature of the island. As the plot develops, everyone goes wild and forgets who they originally were and how to behave like they did when there were their parents. The majority of the issue could have ended if all the characters could support each other and have a sense of what was going on around them. Simon led a meaningful life and is an example of peace and good nature throughout the novel..
