Defendants convicted under this law are also required to pay compensation to their victims for any losses they have caused (“Citizen’s Guide,” 2015). I don't think a sentence of less than 25 years to life is justice for these victims since their childhood is taken away from them. I completely agree that to stop child trafficking it is important that people know how to recognize the signs. Trafficked children may show signs of shame or disorientation; being hungry and malnourished; experience trauma bonding and fear government officials, such as police and immigration officials (“Fact Sheet,” 2012). There are already organizations helping victims start new lives, such as: • The Living Water Center – A shelter and rehabilitation center for victims of human trafficking. It helps survivors graduate from high school and apply to college and/or jobs. • Wellspring Living – A shelter, education and therapy for minor victims. It also offers an independent living program that includes continuing education and job training. 4Sarah – An intervention program that reaches women who work in strip clubs and educates them about the risks of the human trafficking industry (Gulledge, 2015). other organizations and resources across the United States where people can help and/or
