She was on her own during college and paid her own tuition for as long as she could. My mother is the hardest working person I know and I am constantly amazed by what she accomplishes, even while raising 3 children. My brother, sister and I didn't have my mother there to respond to our every move. I know now that when my mother told me to do the housework before taking me to a friend's house and I threw a tantrum, she was just trying to teach me to be responsible and work for the things that I wanted to. So, learning the importance of determination and resilience from a working mother allowed me as a young girl to grow up and see the value of hard work and, therefore, I want to reflect the value from my mother.
