This type of thinking will lead to an autocratic management style. Autocratic management is where the manager dictates all work, communication is poor, and employees have no opinion. Theory Y is that employees would behave differently if they were treated differently by managers. This hypothesis favors a participative management style. This is where managers empower employees. Theory Z, also called Japanese Management, is a combination of the two. This theory will lead to belief in collectivism and collaborative methods. H. The first step in control is to set standards and expectations, then to monitor and judge performance, and finally to adjust standards and improve performance as necessary. At my HCO, the VA hospital, we have a bad press problem. As a human resources manager, I would set goals, policies and expectations to ensure that employees care for patients appropriately to ensure that events that could lead to bad press do not occur in the first place .
