Essay / Influence of the French and English language - 2275
We have many tenses in common such as the present, the past and the future. Both languages use an infinitive form when conjugating verbs. Between the French and English languages, all tenses mean the same thing. The present would speak of now, the past would speak of something finished and the future would speak of something to come. The French and English languages must also use an infinitive form when verbs are conjugated. The infinitive form is the “stem” of the word, for example the word “end”. Since the word "end" is already in the infinitive, we could then add different suffixes to change the meaning and direction of the word.
