In this world there are two kinds of people and every person in the world either has a good side or a bad side. In “My Graduation Speech” by Neil Postman, Mahatma Gandhi shows some characteristics of an Athenian. The Athenians were interested in public affairs and improving public behavior, as was Gandhi. He also inspired civil rights and freedom movements around the world. Mahatma Gandhi believed that bad acts committed by people were acts of violence against the social order and the Athenians also believed in this. Mahatma Gandhi was a good public figure, highly valued tradition and culture, and was a non-violent person. Mahatma Gandhi was a good public figure. People respected him and appreciated his ideologies and beliefs. He believed strongly in himself and emphasized his own character and strength. These qualities made him a good public figure in the sense that people followed him. His examples have motivated many people around the world. People called him “Bapu”, which means father of the nation. The Athenians sought grace and precision, as did Mahatma Gandhi in launching various movements. He even went to prison just to save his country by not being what the British wanted him to be. His thinking was based on the idea that no one should say anything offensive to anyone, should not hear anything bad or insulting, and should not perceive anything that could cause harm or injury. Likewise, the Athenians took initiatives in public affairs and also participated in the improvement of public affairs. Mahatma Gandhi was interested in public affairs, respected the tradition and culture of every individual and was a true saint. He was interested in improving public behavior and public affairs, just like the Athenians. He was also an inspiring person who inspired the civil rights and freedom movement across the world. He believed that no harm should come to any human being, just as the Athenians believed. Every person in this world is considered a good or bad person depending on their characteristics or nature..
