    Comcast Corporation is the largest cable company, residential Internet service provider, and third largest residential telephone service provider in the United States by revenue. It is also the largest media and communications company in the country. On January 28, 2011, Comcast Corporation successfully acquired NBC Universal Inc, which was previously managed by General Electric Company (GE), an American multinational conglomerate. NBC Universal, Inc. was formed in May 2004 when it decided to merge with Vivendi. Universal Entertainment, one of the entertainment industry's leading media conglomerates. NBCU has a large, diverse, premier network including Universal Pictures, Universal Studios and Illumination Entertainment. Before Comcast purchased 51% of NBCU, 80% was owned by GE and 20% by Vivendi Universal.
