  • Essay / Aviation: the safest means of transport in the world

IntroductionWhy is the air transport sector so sophisticated? What events led to the development of highly reliable aircraft and navigation systems? The aviation industry is statistically proven to be the safest form of transportation on Earth. This seems paradoxical when we consider that flying absolutely contradicts the laws of physics from a human point of view. . However, since the advent of new technologies that have supported global growth throughout the last century, many accidents have occurred due to a primary phase, considered transactional because some principles of flight were still unknown when he use of materials beyond their structural limits, before being able to build reliable and very sophisticated machines as is the case today. Air accidents usually have a very significant impact on the media and sometimes on airlines rather than on the global economy, especially in the presence of casualties. In order to avoid these negative impacts and because passengers are now more demanding in terms of safety, manufacturers and their engineers have perfected these machines by developing cutting-edge practices for the construction of new aircraft, during maintenance routines. and focusing on the materials to be used for each aircraft component that shows a high level of performance under stress and thus reduces structural component failures. This report aims to illustrate three aviation accidents that suffered from in-flight structural failure, and which served as a turning point for the entire industry. to increase safety standards. After illustrating the major changes that these accidents have produced in the industry, a section will discuss the risks that the black market around counterfeit parts...... middle of paper .......faa.gov /ll_main .cfm?TabID=4&LLID=21&LLTypeID=210- ANS Report, http://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=19960717-011- http://www.federalobserver.com/2013/06/ 19/finally-the-truth-about-flight-800-emerges/12- NTSB Report, 2000, http://www.ntsb.gov/doclib/reports/2000/AAR0003.pdf13- http://www.seattlepi .com/default/article/Jet-fuel-tank-protection-ordered-1279529.php14- NTSB Report, http://www.ntsb.gov/investigations/summary/AAR9006.html15- FAA CFR Final Rule, Airworthiness Standards http ://rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgFinalRule.nsf/0/6649127916C3E5718625735600481644?OpenDocument&Highlight=engine%20structural%20failure16- (NTSB Accident Report: AAR90-06, PDF Vol 232 McDonnell Douglas DC-1 d United Airlines 0-10 Sioux Gateway Airport, Sioux City, Iowa, July 19, 1989 (NTSB/AAR-90-06))17- http://factorhumano.files.wordpress.com/
