  • Essay / Argumentative Essay on Lung Cancer - 2369

The topic I will focus on for this assignment is lung cancer screening, as it is one of the most controversial debates in the world. The importance of this topic is that when it comes to lung cancer screening, many people may or may not comply. There are many reasons why individuals may not want to be screened for lung cancer. The two main reasons are that the screening itself is expensive and, secondly, the results obtained may not be accurate. Imagine, if the results came out positive, for those who truly don't have lung cancer, the amount of pain, time and money they spent on curing lung cancer would be painful. At the same time, it's not fair that they go through so much ordeal when in reality they don't have lung cancer. In this article, I will explain how lung cancer screening is a controversial issue and why it affects us as a society, as well as the issues family members, friends, and doctors face if something doesn't work. There are 100 types of cancer, but the type of cancer I will focus on is lung cancer. One of the controversial issues regarding lung cancer is screening middle of paper because chest x-ray can detect the smallest tumor, which a CT scan screening cannot detect. CT screening is used to detect the early stage of cancer, but sometimes it does not detect the tumor. Additionally, test results may show false results, either a negative or positive sign. If the screening result comes back falsely negative, the tumor may eventually grow and, by the time another test is done, it may be too late to cure the cancer. If the results come back positive, the amount of money they have to invest for further testing and treatment ends up being worth a lot of money. Some insurance companies do not cover these costs for tests or treatments. You have to pay out of your own pocket to make them. This therefore puts the individual under a lot of pressure and also makes them undergo a lot of stress..
