    “To be human is to communicate” (Moss, 2008, p.1). A poignant yet understandable statement continually explored and developed in our society today. Whether through technological advances or new applications of theories, communication and its importance are imminent. A concept that has recently been described via our second KSPPD module. Until now, I have ignorantly ignored the importance of external factors in considering healthcare. A new understanding that this module gave me. I therefore chose to use the Johns (1994) model to reflect on how my understanding of health care was influenced from a patient's perspective. DescriptionMy “exceptional” personal experience happened when I was fifteen. I was admitted to the hospital to undergo tests suggesting a possible appendectomy. I definitely remember the healthcare professional (HCP) who was responsible for my first aid that day. Mainly how he confirmed that I would indeed be admitted for an appendectomy. After being sent to the accident and emergency (A&E) department, I was in a fast-paced environment. One aspect I felt impacted the seemingly abrupt way in which I was communicated at first. Feeling unclear, the healthcare professional examined me, discussed my signs and symptoms with my parents, and left to see a colleague. When I returned, he confirmed to me that I was going to be hospitalized for surgery. Briefly explaining what was going to happen next before heading off to gather documentation.
