Religion, a word shrouded in mystery, confusion and complexity. For some, it's the answer to everything, a path to direction and hope. For others, it is the reason for all evil or simply a human-made phenomenon for those who refuse to understand that everything happens for a scientific reason. In Pakistani society, the greatest discrimination manifests itself in the treatment of religious minorities. In some homes, people tend not to eat food from a Christian or Hindu family and, in some extreme cases, not even from a Shia family. In conclusion, whether religion leads to conservatism and violence or whether people use religion for personal gain depends solely on how they are taught religion. There are very religious but very modern people, like Sheikh Hamza Yousuf, the Dalai Lama or Pope Francis. It all depends on human psychology and with proper knowledge of the subject, religion can surely exist with science and modernism..
