Price both entered the war. However, they both had different jobs during the war and had different experiences. To begin with, early in the story, one of Price's comrades observes dogs drinking blood and he and everyone else begins shooting at them. Price describes this moment and explains: "We shot dogs. Not by accident. We did it on purpose and we called it Operation Scooby. I'm a dog lover, so I thought about it a lot" ( Klay 1). This can be interpreted to mean that dogs display symbolism of innocence. The dogs didn't attack anyone and minded their own business. When all the Prices shot the dogs, he must have felt a guilt that will persist throughout the story. Another incident occurred when Price observed one of his deaths. Price illustrates the moment and says, "But thinking about Cheryl made me feel guilty, and I was thinking about Lance Corporal Hernandez and Corporal Smith and Eicholtz. We were like brothers, Eicholtz and I. We were like brothers , Eicholtz and I “We both saved that Marine’s life once. A few weeks later, Eicholtz climbed a wall. The insurgent comes out of a window and shoots him halfway through the back" (Klay 2-3). This is compelling because Price actually witnessed people being killed, which is different from narrator of Bodies where he was just treating them Although Marines are trained to suppress their emotions when someone dies, it can be assumed that Price would suffer psychological damage..
