  • Essay / Diary of Anne Frank Act 1: Differences between Anne and...

Have you ever been compared to someone so perfect that you start to doubt the amount of love you receive? This happens very often. In The Diary of Anne Frank, Act 1, this is exactly how Anne felt about her older sister Margot. In The Diary of Anne Frank, Act I, the differences between Anne and her sister Margot include Margot being more mature than Anne, Anne being a nuisance to many people while Margot's presence did not bother them, and Margot being much closer to her. mother that Anne never was. These differences impact Anne by making her feel like she only has a negative impact on other people's lives and that they would be happy with just Margot. The first difference between Anne and Margot is that Margot is much more mature than Anne. This mainly manifests as other characters wishing Anne was more like Margot. One character who wishes Anne would be more like Margot is Mrs. Frank. (Act 1, Scene 3: Mrs. Frank. You don't have to fight to get there. Margot doesn't fight, and does she...?) Mrs. Frank doesn't want Anne to change , she just wishes Anne was a little more mature to succeed as an adult. Another character who wishes Anne were a little more than Margot is Mr. Van Daan. (Act 1, scene 3: Mr. Van Daan (restraining himself with difficulty). Why aren't you kind and quiet like your sister Margot?...) Mr. Van Daan does not intentionally want to hurt Anne, he just wants to scold her for her behavior. He has a different opinion than Anne on how girls should react. Anne is affected by this because she feels worthless and everyone only loves Margot. The second difference between Anne and Margot is that Anne bothers others and becomes a nuisance to many characters...... middle of paper ....the difference Anne and Margot have. This affects Anne because this dominating feeling of being closer to her father made her feel worse about her mother. She doesn't do this intentionally and tries to avoid hurting her mother. When her mother is hurt, Anne is hurt as well and she wants to avoid this as much as she can. In The Diary of Anne Frank, Act 1, Anne and her sister Margot have many differences, they are almost opposites; these differences include Margot being more mature than Anne, the other characters wanting Anne to be more like Margot, and Margot being much closer to Mrs. Frank than Anne. Each of these differences affects Anne by hurting her and making her feel worthless. If Anne shows maturity and tells everyone what she thinks about the way she is being treated, most of her problems will be solved. She will be a happier person and thrive as an adult.
