    Individual ReportStrategic Human Resource Management plays a crucial role in every business organization, whether commercial or non-commercial. According to Dessler, “strategic human resource management means the formulation and execution of human resource policies and practices that produce the employee skills and behaviors that a company needs to achieve its strategic objectives” (2011) . This article focuses on the analysis of the relationship between business strategy and HRM strategy on the example of an institution – KIMEP University. KIMEP University is a higher education institution offering credit-based, North American-style degree programs in Almaty, Kazakhstan. KIMEP is an independent, non-profit coeducational institute serving a multicultural and multinational student body, JSC (KIMEP official website, 2014). There are approximately 4,000 enrolled students and approximately 984 employees (723 – administrative staff; 261 – faculty) working at the university. In addition, KIMEP University offers 16 undergraduate and graduate programs in the fields of business, economics, finance, accounting, public administration, political science, international relations, law, journalism, social sciences, English education, etc. (Catalogue of the 2013-2014 academic year, 2014). KIMEP faculty members, students and administrative staff are part of various decision-making bodies (see Annex 1). According to the official KIMEP website, the university's mission is "to develop well-educated citizens and improve the quality of life in Kazakhstan and the Central Asian region through teaching, learning, community service and the advancement of knowledge in the fields of business administration and social sciences.
