    "Giselle" is a romantic ballet choreographed by Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot. Adolphe Adam composes the music magnificently. This ballet was created in Paris in 1841. The production we saw in class was from La Salla. "Giselle" is one of the last ballets of the Romantic era. The element that stood out to me the most was the perfect match between the music and the footwork. The best examples of this are the solos of the dancers. Especially in Albrecht's solo, his feet slide across the stage in time with the music. Likewise, Giselle's graceful footwork is truly astonishing. I really like the similarities between the choreographed footwork and the music, it makes Giselle much more elegant and beautiful. This also seems to make the work look more cohesive and synchronized as the dancers dance in harmony with the orchestra. The choreography itself is incredible. The footwork is fast and complex, but at the same time it is delicate and graceful. The ballerina (Giselle) made the choreography look very easy, when it was real....
