Essay / Are Bus Passes Used Effectively - 1228
Task #3: Research PlanResearch QuestionThe research question to be answered by evaluations of the bus pass/gas card program is whether the bus passes were used correctly and efficiently. Did bus passes/gas cards eliminate patients who canceled appointments and/or had fewer no-shows? The evaluation will show whether or not the program met the needs of Mercy Health's patients and physician partners. The purpose of the evaluation is to see whether or not the program was successful and/or whether the program needed to address any gaps it may have. The following are the specific research questions that will be used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the program:a. Do 80% of patients make their appointment on time after being registered in the program?b. Did the program contribute to improving the patient's health and/or mental health?c. Did program participants have 40% higher self-esteem after the program than before the program?d. Did program participants improve other aspects of their lives because they could get around with a bus pass/gas card? Did participants stay out of the emergency department due to non-life-threatening injuries?f. Were participants able to receive their prescriptions on time? Methodology Research design: Quasi-experiments have been used as early as the 18th century and continue to be frequently used by researchers today for three main reasons: (1) to meet the practical requirements of funding, school administrators and ethics, (2) to evaluate the effectiveness of an intervention when the intervention has been implemented by educators before the evaluation procedure has been considered and (3) when searching...... middle of article. .....according to this premise, the following two conditions must be met: (a) In a regression, the independent variable, X, should contribute significantly to the explanatory power of the model predicting Y. (b) Y should not help predict X. If the latter case occurs, then it is likely that one or more other variables are indeed causing the observed changes in X and Y (Nuworosso, 2004). If participants living in poverty receive bus passes/gas cards it will help them be healthier, stress-free, have fewer emergency room visits, and improve their lifestyle in other areas . This test will help see if the program is the reason participants have more positive outcomes or negative outcomes because of it. The program will also organize a test that will compare the results of participants with the bus pass and those of participants with gas cards...
