For those who suffer from the disease, they are treated with antimalarial drugs such as amodiaquine or lumefantrine. Normally, after treatment, the person gets better, no longer has the infection and can no longer pass it on to others. There are several ways to prevent the transmission of malaria to others. For example, in some high rate areas they use mosquito nets which help keep mosquitoes away from people, reduce the infection rate and reduce the spread of malaria. There are also medications such as Lariam and Malarone that can be taken to prevent infection. Today, thanks to modern inventions, there are repellent and insecticide sprays that kill existing mosquitoes and stop their spread.
