Even though genetically modified organisms were created to produce more food, these types of crops have negative aspects that are harmful to humans and animals. Therefore, GMOs should be studied further because they have positive impacts but harmful side effects. Genetically modified organisms are an organism whose genetic material has been modified using genetic engineering techniques. Genetically modified organisms include microorganisms such as bacteria and yeast, insects, plants, fish and mammals. GMOs are the source of genetically modified foods and are also widely used in scientific research and to produce goods other than food. Some negative impacts of GMOs are increased autoimmune diseases, toxic effects, allergy risks, financial impacts, and cross-pollination or contamination. Increases in autoimmune diseases, infertility and chronic diseases may be associated with the introduction of genetically modified foods. The American Academy of Environmental Medicine is examining the role of genetically modified foods in the nation's health crisis and advising its patients to avoid all genetically modified foods as much as possible. Genetically modified foods also share some toxic effects on the liver, pancreas, kidneys and reproductive system that can cause cancer of these organs. The widespread use of recombinant hormones - a genetically modified substance - in the agricultural industry is associated with IGF-1, a growth hormone which, in excess, can lead to cancer. GMO foods present numerous allergy risks for humans. Genetic modification often mixes or adds proteins that are not native to the original plant or animal, causing new allergic reactions in the body. Plant modification genetically forms viruses, bacteria and other...... middle of paper ... indoors and the gardener controls the season. It's also a great way to spend healthy, quality time with family. In conclusion, there are many alternatives to the use of GMOs. Genetically modified foods can have many positive impacts, but there are far more negative and harmful side effects and consequences when creating, consuming or using genetically modified foods. GMOs not only affect the health of the human population, but they also affect the nature around us. Nature has its own natural cycle and genetically modified organisms disrupt the natural cycle. Killing a harmless insect species may seem insignificant, but it disrupts the food chain and the animals or species that depend on them will die, just like the rest of the food chain. Scientists should study GMOs more so that the negatives turn into positives so that it doesn't affect people as much, if at all..
