    The drug problem in the United States and around the world is an important issue and appears to be a difficult problem to solve at all levels. The influx of drugs has become one of the most significant growth phenomena in transnational criminal operations; Illicit drug use in the United States makes it very difficult for nation-state police and customs forces to control these problems. War on Drugs, drug trafficking has long been a problem for the United States. There has been a proclamation of a “war on drugs” for the past 44 years. Drug trafficking and abuse have long been a frustrating feature in the United States and other countries around the world. The United Nations Office on Drug Control and Crime Prevention highlights that the fight against drug trafficking and abuse has achieved some success in recent years in curbing the trade which affects the community as a whole (World Report on drugs, 2010). The United States must strengthen border security, which will help eliminate drugs being brought into the country. I believe that when you put a well-developed plan in place, it will help eliminate the number of illegal immigrants who are coming back and forth to the United States and who want to engage in drug trafficking in our country. We need better border security controls that will help eliminate drugs coming into our country. In 1972, Mexican President Luis Echeverría met with President Nixon and, along with several government agencies, created the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Many efforts have been made to fight the war on drugs, including: strengthening law enforcement, allowing federal officials access to military intelligence, training and much more, including campaigns.
