    One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is a film directed by Czech director Milos Forman in 1975. Using powerful fictional elements - characters, conflicts and symbolism - Forman illustrates the counterculture of the 1970s 1960. . This film depicts American society as a madhouse that demands conformity from its citizens. The film begins with the assignment of a convict accomplice to the asylum. RP McMurphy is sent to the asylum to be evaluated by doctors to determine whether or not he suffers from a mental illness. Little does he know that he will be supervised by an emasculating woman named Nurse Mildred Ratched who monitors the patients' every movement from her nursing station. RP McMurphy is a lively, rebellious and rational patient who has recently been escorted to the insane asylum. Once in the trash, Randle becomes the self-proclaimed champion of the rights of the other patients in the ward, his opponent being Nurse Ratched (New York Times). He scans the asylum and the patients and decides he needs to lighten the atmosphere. According to Filmsite, Movie Review McMurphy encourages patients to participate in activities that will boost their morale and change their monotonous routines. McMurphy decides to challenge Nurse Ratched when he notices that the patients on the ward are too organized and controlled by a rigid set of authoritarian rules and regulations which McMurphy questions: "God Almighty, she makes you come or go . What do you think she is, some kind of champion or something? » --- "I bet in a week I can stick a bug so far up her ass, she doesn't know whether to shit or roll it up." wristwatch” (OFOTCN). Entertainment Weekly hints that McMurphy is unwilling to give in to Nurse Ratched's demeaning power and rebels against the corr...... middle of paper ...... good place in America all have one thing in common with the film: they are filled with people who have had enough and who have a leader ready to take leadership to make this change.
