    Even if some form of disgust intervention were implemented, would the culture eventually become desensitized to the shock value? All studies regarding handwashing techniques have focused on the risk of pathogen contamination. Yet this focus on contamination, I believe, has created an association within our society with risk assessment. Thus, those who do not have independent thought and do not follow the rules are considered deviant.
