    As my college education progressed, I slept less each year. Back in high school and entering my freshman year of college, I had no problem sleeping and getting to bed on time to get restful sleep. I wasn't perfect with my sleeping habits, but I always managed to get about five to six hours of sleep a night. I was usually in bed around midnight or one in the morning. This amount of sleep wasn't the most, but it was more than most of my friends and family at home. However, as I progressed in my college career and became more involved on campus, I noticed problems sleeping and going to bed at a decent time. As a result, I struggle to concentrate, feel healthy, and feel exhausted at the start and end of my day. I am one of the 35 to 40% of people who experience excessive sleepiness during the day (Ferracioli-Oda). Even when I get enough sleep, I have to sacrifice half my day because I sleep way too late, making me feel wide awake when it's time for bed the next night. Additionally, this lack of sleep often prevents me from feeling the need to exercise because I don't have the energy to run, which is my favorite activity. Therefore, I believe that to increase my overall sense of health and energy, my goal is to increase my amount of deeply lacking sleep until I return to a healthy level each night. Major changes in habits are extremely difficult to break, especially for egos. I've been trying to work on this behavior over the past few months.
