    Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe is an African novel set in the 19th century. Achebe mainly narrates the story of Okonkwo's entire life in one of the nine villages called Umuofia in Nigeria and the clashes as well as the influences brought to bear on the village by European colonization. The clashes include reactions and misconceptions after the arrival of the first white people and the effect that the missionaries bring to the village in many aspects such as belief, family and culture. Beyond this, many descriptions of the background and details of the villagers' daily lives are provided for readers to become familiar with Ibo culture. As a result, the changes the whites bring to the village are striking and unimaginable compared to their previous peaceful lives. Conflicts are generated by violence and misunderstanding between Europeans and villagers, combined with a colonial process between villages that leads to the replacement of Christian rule rather than Ibo culture.
