Essay / Children of Cinema - 639
A child is a gift that should never be taken for granted. The title of the film Children of Men has an obvious meaning in the situation presented in the film. Quite simply, it is the children of the human race who seem to have disappeared. The film, directed by Academy Award winner Alfonso Cuarón, known for Gravity and Pan's Labyrinth, was released in 2006. The developed protagonist Theo Faron was played by the talented actor Clive Owen, known for Sin City and Inside Man . The life-changing Kee was played by Clare-Hope Ashiyey, known for the TV series Suspects. The humorous Jasper was played by actor Michael Caine, known for the recent Batman films and The Prestige. The deceptive Luke was played by Oscar winner Chiwetel Ejiofor, known for 12 Years a Slave and Salt. Science fiction (Sci-Fi) is the genre of science and fiction, masquerading together as something that could happen in this world, although most seems improbable. It's a fitting genre for Children of Men because it's set in 2027 in the United Kingdom, in a real place and time. It's a dystopian world of infertility, an unfortunate feature for many women in the world today. Yet, unlike the majority of science fiction films, this film lacks shiny toys and cutting-edge technology. It's similar to the films Doomsday and Babylon AD. The novel was written by PD James, screenplay by Alfonso Cuarón, Timothy Sexton, David Arata, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby. The clear protago...... middle of paper...... tilted towards the violent sequences and detailed birth of the child. A very memorable shot is one that takes place in the car where a camera has been built in and moved to film, moving the actors to see the shot better. This is a film that deserves the accolades it has received and is not about to be forgotten, as proven by the fact that it is one of my favorite films. The film depicts a world tarnished with color by humanity's fragility and selfish greed. He taught that everything you are taught, that you are told, that you are obliged to read should not be followed to the end and, sometimes, you will be alone in your convictions. However, a child's innocence is universal and can silence feelings of guilt. Children of Men is a film so complex that it would be futile to capture and assemble all of its meanings and symbolism in simple words..
